Evelyn Lathrop

January 9, 1937 — April 13, 2014

Evelyn Wolff Lathrop, 77, died April 13, 2014 at St. Joseph Living Center after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease. Evelyn was born in Willimantic,CT January 9, 1937, a daughter of the late William and Ruby (Williams) Wolff. She graduated from Porter School, Windham High and Manchester Community College. On June 1, 1969 she married Linwood Lathrop of Norwich and lived there for thirty-four years. Mr.Lathrop passed away in 1994. Evelyn loved both music and dramatics and, in her younger years, was a member of several players' groups, The Lebanon Chorus and the Preston Chorus. She was a Certified Medical Assistant and worked for several medical practices both in Manchester and Norwich. In 2003 she moved back to Columbia where she lived with her brother until going to St. Joseph Living Center in 2011. She was a long-time member of the Columbia Congregational Church and the Columbia Historical Society. She was also a member of Columbia Seniors Organization. She is survived by her brother, Merton Wolff of Columbia, her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Ronald Gingras of Mansfield Center, two nephews, Brian Gingras and his wife Nancy of Eastford and Craig Gingras of Columbia and several grand-nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Columbia Congregational Church. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr.Leach and the entire St. Joseph Staff for the love and excellent care given Evelyn. Also a special thank-you to the Staff for the love and support given to the family these last few days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Columbia Congregational Church, P. O.
