Eva B. Smith, 94, of Windham Center, died Tuesday December 4, 2001 in Putnam. She was born August 11, 1907 in Ansonia, the daughter of the late Adam A. Bogan and Mary Groziak of Shelton. She was a 1925 graduate of Shelton High School and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1929. She taught home economics at Bethel High School for two years and at Windham High School for a number of years before marriage, returning later to teach for many years before retiring in 1965. She leaves a son, J. Philip Smith of Orange, a daughter Janet M. Smith of Putnam, five grandchildren; Alyson Aleman and Andrew Smith of New York City, Deborah Smith of London, England and Alex and Eric Aleman of Putnam. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Eugene Smith and her sister, Julia B. Wheeler of Shelton. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Burial will follow in Windham Center Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service.
