Eva Marie (Hohenberg) Lederer died Thursday October 25, 2001, at the age of 74, after a long and valiant struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in Vienna, Austria on January 19, 1927, the daughter of Victor and Julie (Theumann) Hohenberg. The family emigrated to the United States in 1939. Eva received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brooklyn College in 1948 and worked for years as a nursery and kindergarten teacher. In 1966 she renewed her studies and obtained a Master of Library Science from Queens College in 1968. From 1969 until her retirement in 1989 she was a cataloguer at the University of Connecticut Babbidge Library. she was an organizing member of the Town of Mansfield Committee for the Physically and Sensorily Impaired. She is survived by her husband Herbert Lederer, a University of Connecticut Emeritus Professor, of 143 Separatist Road in Storrs, her brother Rudy Hohenberg of Wellesley, Massachusetts, her son George of Portland, Oregon and her daughter Barbara of Simsbury. She leaves three grandchildren, Benjamin, Miriam and Emma, as well as a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be held at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street in Willimantic on Sunday October 28 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Eva Marie Lederer s name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter, 1155 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, CT 06109-4301.
