Eugenie M. Fitzsimmons

Eugenie (Jean) M. Fitzsimmons, 87, of Willington, CT, left this life on Saturday, December 5, 2015 with her daughter by her side. She was born on September 17, 1928 in New York City, NY, and was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Roketski) Gorlock. Eugenie had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh, and dance. She was an avid reader, and a lover of French cooking and arts and crafts. Shopping was simply part of Jean's personality, she loved a bargain. She was raised in the Bronx, NY and spent 62 years in New York. Retiring to Florida where she spent 25 years and made many friends. Her family is grateful that she agreed to come here to Connecticut in the twilight of her life so that they might be with her. She is survived by her beloved daughter Lynda Ann Vought-Filip and her husband Stephen Filip; grandson William Bruce Vought II and a great grandson Carter Henry Vought. Eugenie was preceded in death by husbands Emil Maksymowicz and John Fitzsimmons Sr.; sister Stephanie Golding, brother Paul Gorlack along with her parents. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., (Rte. 195) Willimantic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Church, 1600 Main St. Coventry, CT 06238.
