Eugene V. Boomer Sr., 90, of Chaplin, husband of Jennie (Cuoghi) Boomer, died Saturday January 21, 2006 at the Windham Hospital. He was born August 16, 1915 in Dover, NJ, the son of Perley and Edith (Norman) Boomer and had lived in Chaplin since 1939. Prior to his retirement in 1979 he was employed as a bridge inspector for the Connecticut Department of Transportation. He enjoyed antique cars and all sports especially Boston Red Sox Baseball. Mr. Boomer was a member of Eastern Star Lodge #44 A.F. & A.M. and the Willimantic Paint and Palette Club. In addition to his wife he is survived by 5 children, Victor Boomer of Chaplin, Jennifer Tate and her husband Bill of Coventry, Deborah Meyappan and her husband Meyya of San Jose, CA, Eugene Boomer Jr. of Chaplin and Norman Boomer and his wife Penny of Chaplin, 4 grandchildren, Joshua Clark, Justin Boomer, Amy Cournoyer and John Cournoyer, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Norman Boomer. Funeral services will be private with burial in the South Chaplin Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
