Ethel Godfrey Nelson

Ethel Godfrey Nelson, 93, of Storrs, CT., formerly of Rochester, N.H., died Tuesday May 16, 2006 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Storrs. She was born Nov. 28, 1912 in Rochester, the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Godfrey) Nelson and resided there for most of her life. Ethel was a 1931 graduate of Rochester High School. She had been employed as a teacher s aide in both New Hampshire and Connecticut schools. She also served as a guidance counselor and librarian at Spaulding High School in Rochester. For many years, Ethel received dolls in need of rehabilitation from the Salvation Army in Rochester. After her handwork, she returned them to the Salvation Army which then donated them to needy children. She was predeceased by a sister Marion Esther Nelson. She is survived by 2 sisters, Alberta Nelson Roberts of Whitinsville, MA. and Marjorie Gertrude Nelson of Storrs and a nephew Richard N. Roberts of Whitinsville. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on June 6, 2006 at 11:30am in Rochester Cemetery, Rochester, New Hampshire.
