Emily R. Keeton, 90, of Willington, wife of the late Ernest Keeton, to whom she was married 57 years, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in West Hartford. She was born January 17, 1924 in Mansfield, the daughter of the late Andrew and Katherine (Russak) Tomaskovic, grew up in Bridgeport and moved to Willington in 1948. She was a 1941 graduate of Bassick High School in Bridgeport and worked as payroll secretary at DECCA Records. She retired from the University of Connecticut after many years of service, first as a Purchasing Secretary and then as an administrative assistant with the Office of the President, a role that required her to learn computers at the age of 60. Emily was a founding member of the Willington Fire House Auxiliary #2, a member of the VFW Auxiliary, St. Jude's Church and Guild and the Willington Senior Center. She was an excellent cook and baker and excelled in handicrafts, using her talents to earn money for her charities. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, running the annual bazaar, learning to play the organ and overall helping wherever she could, being a volunteer at heart. She is survived by three children; Jill Goodwin and her husband Larry, Kathy Goodwin and her husband Artie, Allison Keeton, and William Prenetta, whom she thought of as a son. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Jennifer Goodwin, Penny Marquis and her husband David, Nancy Rivera and her husband Lionel, Ernest Goodwin and his wife Amy, Eric Goodwin and his wife Jen and Andrew Goodwin and his wife Meghan, twelve great grandchildren, Abigail, Jacob, Hannah, Olivia, Benjamin, Joshua, Jarod, Kaylie, Emily, Brock, Ashley and Ryan, a special niece, Ethel Krapf, niece Janice Majsa and nephew Terrence Tomasko and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Anne Triska, Bill Tomasko and Frank Tomaskovic. Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic on Sunday, February 16th, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 17th at 11:00 AM at St. Jude Church, 25 Old Farms Rd. Willington, with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in the Willington Hill Cemetery.
