Emerald James Green, 81, of Coventry, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2003 at the Windham Community Hospital. He was born June 17, 1921, the son of James W. Green and Sarah Chadwick Green of Coventry. He was a United States Army Veteran and served a short term during WWII. He was self-employed in the logging business in both Connecticut and Tampa, Florida. He retired and moved to the Orchard Hill Estates in Coventry in 1983 where he leaves, Phyllis Usher, his closest friend and longtime companion. Emerald is survived by his brother Roland Green of Coventry, a daughter, Janice L. Green of Lebanon, four grandchildren, Elisa Ratliff of Pasadena, Maryland, Emerald Hobbs of Manchester, Maureen Green of Manchester and Jonathan Green of Lebanon. He also leaves six great-grandchildren, Cyndi, Kelly, Lisa and TJ Ratliff and Kaytlyn and Heather Hobbs along with a niece and two nephews. Memorial services to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor?s choice.
