Elvira "Vee" Milana Sestili Hodovan of Mansfield, born in Lorain, Ohio on November 20, 1927, passed away on September 5, 2010, surrounded by her family, at her home on the Mount Hope River. She follows her beloved husband, Stephen Francis Hodovan, and her cherished son, Stephen Christopher Hodovan. Vee was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church Parish in Ashford, CT since she and Steve moved to their home on the river in 1952. She was a respected registered nurse and practiced for over 40 years in the greater Mansfield area. She also spent 3 months as a volunteer at Mission House, Port au Prince, Haiti, after retirement in 1993. She is survived by her remaining children and their families, Francine Hodovan of Mansfield Center, CT , Carol Hodovan Sexton, her husband, Ronald Sexton, and their sons Stephen Lawrence Sexton and Patrick Lee Sexton of West Hartford, CT; Stephanie Hodovan Trudeau and her husband, Dennis Trudeau, of Lake Worth, FL; Debra Hodovan and her children, Naima Floribunda Kennedy, Naima's son, Damien Kennedy and Naima's husband, Jesse Poole-Van Swol, and David Kennedy of Tampa Bay FL; Eugenie Hodovan Shea and her husband, Tom Shea of Austin, TX; and Barbara Hodovan and her children, Alexis Milana Elmore and Nathan Hodovan Elmore of Berkeley, CA. Her family will receive relatives and friends between 6:00 & 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9th, at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte 195) Willimantic, with a Funeral Mass to be held at St. Philip Church, Rte 44, Ashford at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10th. Interment will take place in St. Philip Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Hodovan residence.
