Elmer E. Offerman, 93, of Coventry, passed away on December 3, 2014. He was born in Illinois, the son of late Frank Offerman and Clara Schwark. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, College of Agriculture. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and retired after many years of dedicated service. He will be remembered as a kind man who loved his family and close friends. He was an avid reader and loved to stay up on current events. The time he spent with both his wives was special. They enjoyed many years of travel, going out to dinner and spending time with family. He is survived by two daughters in law Sylvia and Barbara, two sons in law Robert and Konstant and grandchildren Jeff, Thomas Jr., Brett and Taylor. Elmer is predeceased by his first wife Margaret of 28 years and his second wife Marie of 19 years, both of whom he loved very much. He was also predeceased by his brother Melvin, his son Thomas, and a granddaughter Robin. His family would like to thank all the nurses on the 7th floor ICU unit at Hartford Hospital for the excellent care they gave to Elmer. Elmer's family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday December 10, 2014 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, with a service at 6:00pm. Burial will be Thursday December 11, 2014 at 10:00am at the Storrs Cemetery, Storrs. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to the charity of your choice.
