Ellinor Sisson Obituary
Ellinor Lee (Scully) Sisson, 89, of Willimantic, wife of the late Al
Sisson, died Monday, June 17, 2024, at Mansfield Center for Nursing
and Rehabilitation. She was born in Hartford, CT, the daughter of the
late Joseph and Ellinor (Jurgensen) Scully. Lee is survived by three
sons and a daughter, Dave Caouette, Kate Johannsen, Raymond (Chip)
Caouette and Mark Caouette: six grandchildren, Debbie Green, David
Signs, Amy Caouette Spell, Joe Caouette, Alisha Clark, Kimberly May:
and many great grandchildren.
Lee graduated from Windham High School with the class of 1953. She
lived most of her life raising her family in Columbia CT, in a house
down the street from her sister Joyce Peppin. Together the families
celebrated most holidays, and joyous occasions together. As well as
raising her family, Lee worked as a secretary for Windham Hospital,
and later, Beebe Construction.
Lee's Irish heritage was a cornerstone of her identity. She shared her
love for Ireland's rich culture, music, and traditions with everyone
she met. She was a long time member, and two term president of the
Irish Club of Willimantic. A passionate traveler, she traveled the
world, even visiting Ireland four times, and was always eager for
more.
A true social butterfly, Lee thrived in the company of friends and
family. Her home was always a welcoming haven filled with laughter and
stories. During her retirement years, she could be seen out and about
town with the ladies of the Red Hat Society, or possibly at the casino
with a friend on the slot machines.
During her downtime you could find her at home, documenting her
adventures and precious moments shared with loved ones in scrapbooks.
Gardening was another of Lee's beloved pastimes. She found peace and
joy in tending to her garden, where her vibrant rose bush and flowers
flourished under her care.
Lee is survived by her loving family and many friends who will forever
treasure her memory. Her legacy of joy, adventure, and friendship will
continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A graveside service is set for Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 2:00pm at
Columbia Center Cemetery.
