Elizabeth A. Soltys, 82, of Storrs, wife of Joseph J. Soltys, died Monday September 29, 2003 at Hartford Hospital after being involved in an automobile accident. She was born August 2, 1921 in Franklin, MA, the daughter of Michael and Mary (McCarthy) Kearney and had lived in Storrs since 1959. She was a graduate of Framingham State College in Massachusetts and was employed as a dietician at several Veterans' Administration Hospitals including the one in Northampton where she met her husband of 51 years. Elizabeth was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel in Storrs. She enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, bridge and was a fan of UConn Women's Basketball and the UConn soccer teams. In addition to her husband she is survived by 3 children and their spouses, Anne and Robert Otto of Willimantic, Judith and Don DiCristofaro of Hingham, MA, Michael and Teresa Soltys of Southington, a sister, Ruth Parker of Franklin, MA, 5 grandchildren, Katie, Sean, Christie and Jason Soltys of Southington, Devin DiCristofaro of Hingham, MA, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Benjamin Soltys of Southington and a brother, Robert Kearney of Franklin, MA. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel, 46 North Eagleville Rd. Storrs with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in the Storrs Cemetery.
