Elizabeth Reynolds Rychling

Elizabeth (Reynolds) Rychling, 87, of Coventry, widow of Eugene Rychling, died Sunday January 25, 2004 in Willimantic. Elizabeth was the daughter of John and Mettie Mable (Edgerton) Reynolds. She was a life-long resident of the Town of Coventry. Elizabeth worked for the Town of Coventry most of her life. She was Secretary and Bookkeeper for the Coventry Board of Education for 17 years; she then was Town Clerk and Treasurer for 12 years until her retirement in 1980. Elizabeth was very active in the community serving in many capacities among which were as Trustee of Booth-Dimock Library, Registrar of Voters for 4 years, on the Veteran?s Commission for 13 years, the Pension and Retirement Committee for 16 years and the Cemetery Commission for 24 years. The Coventry Grange chose her as Citizen of the Year in 1986. She was a member of the American Auxiliary Unit 52, Coventry CT for 59 years, holding every office including Unit President for 24 years, Department Parliamentarian for 8 years, District President for 4 years and Department President for the State of Connecticut 1972-73. She also belonged to the 8 & 40, Salon #684. She is survived by her sister Marion Litvinchyk of Ashford, her daughters, Jeanne Rychling of Windham, Janet Brozowski of Sarasota, FL, Joanne Rychling and Linda Dixon, both of Coventry, 4 grandchildren, Susan Brozowski, Michelle (Dixon) Powers, Sean Dixon and Travis Dixon, 1 great grandson, Collin Eugene Dixon, several nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Coventry with the reverend Dr. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Coventry Cemetery.
