Elizabeth "Bettye" Goodwin

Elizabeth "Bettye" Ellen (Kendall) Goodwin, widow of the late Arthur W. Goodwin, Sr., was born May 26, 1924 in Ashford and died March 18, 2013. She was the daughter of Clayton and Elizabeth (Mihancki) Kendall. She lived in Ashford her entire life. She was predeceased by two infant sons, Russell and Scott Goodwin, and a sister Priscilla Barry. Survivors are her beloved sons - William Goodwin, Arthur Goodwin Jr. and wife Kathy, Bruce Goodwin and wife Arlene all of Ashford, Gregory Goodwin and wife Tammy of Eastford; beloved daughters Cheryl Jensen of North Carolina and Dale Goodwin of Costa Rica and beloved sister Mary-Lillian Busse and husband Charles of Willington. She is also survived by her beloved eleven grandchildren: Jodi Coyer, Heather Muncie, Troy Jensen, Penny Marquis, Nancy Rivera, Eric Goodwin, Kevin Goodwin, Christopher Goodwin, Dustin Goodwin and girlfriend Emily Kalenauskas, Sierra and Cody Goodwin; beloved sixteen great grandchildren: Teddy Coyer, Jacob and Joshua Marquis, Olivia Rivera, Abigail, Hannah, Ben and Jarod Goodwin, Hadley and Payton Jensen, Nathan Williams, Jordan Fritz, Nathan Meade, Nicole and Natalie Goodwin, Alexander Muncie, and several nieces and nephews. She attended Windham High School Class of 1942. She was a member for many years of Ashford Grange #90, a member of the Ashford United Baptist Church since 1939 and member of the Ashford Senior Citizens. She was employed for 24 years at Natchaug Hospital as a mental health worker. She was a lover of flowers and birds "NO squirrels". One of her greatest assets was her down to earth sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. Visiting hours will be at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday, March 22, 2013 between 5:00 and 7:00PM. Her funeral service will be held at United Baptist Church of Ashford, 30 Pompey Hollow Rd. (Rte. 44), Ashford on Saturday, March 23, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Woodward Cemetery in Ashford.
