Elizabeth F. "Betty" Dean, 79, of Wauregan, passed away at home on Tuesday March 23, 2004 surrounded by her loving children, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in East Boston, MA. on May 29, 1924 and moved to Connecticut in 1956. She was the widow of Harold Owen Dean. She is survived by 2 sons; Harold Dean Jr. of Cape Cod, MA. and Todd Dean of Killingly, 5 daughters; Elizabeth Wilson of Bucksport, ME., Jeanne Dean of Wauregan, Pam Woodward of Pomfret, Jill Bradley of Coventry and Robin Dean of Thompson, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters; Mary Knox of Raynham, MA., Florence Nugent of East Boston, MA. and Harriet Jeffrey of Davenport, FL., a sister in law Judy Jeffrey of Northwood, N.H., 2 brothers; James Jeffrey of Laconia, N.H. and William Jeffrey of Boxwood, MA. She was predeceased by a sister Marguerite Walker, a brother Joseph Jeffrey and a grandson Jeff Wilson. Elizabeth's family and friends will always remember and love this extraordinary woman for her unique sense of humor, endless generosity, warm compassion, steadfast courage and most importantly her underlying optimism. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00pm in the Windham Center Congregational Church, corner of Rte 14 and Rte 203 in Windham Center. Burial will follow in the Windham Center Cemetery.
