Elinor Isenberg Obituary
Elinor Catherine (Slowik) Isenberg, 91, of Norwich, CT, passed away on Monday, October 24th, 2022. She was born on March 10th,1931 in Windham, CT, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Stygar) Slowik.
Elinor graduated from Windham High School in 1948 and St. Francis School of Nursing in 1952. As a young woman she was a dedicated nurse. As a devoted daughter, and in keeping with her professional calling, Elinor dedicated four of her later years to nursing her mother Mary through Mary’s final days. Elinor very much enjoyed animals and nature. Tending to plants, trees, and flowers was a fundamental part of her essence; and so she was often to be found gardening and landscaping. She loved the woods. She loved the shore. She enjoyed tai chi, tennis and reading just about anything to do with medicine and health.
Her family would like to thank the nurses that gave care to Elinor at the Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norwich, CT.
Elinor is survived by her two children Mark Isenburg and Lynn Heckett along with her son-in-law Nicholas Heckett and her grandson Alexander Heckett. She is also survived by her two brothers: Donald Slowik and Wilfred Slowik; and her many nieces and nephews. Elinor was predeceased by her husband Matthew Isenburg, and three of her siblings: John Slowik, Lucille (Slowik) Hancharyk, and Edward Slowik.
Viewing hours will be held on Sunday, October 30th, 2022 from 2-4 pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT. Her funeral service will be private with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Willimantic, CT.
