Elinor M. Gadoury, 85, of Storrs, formerly of Willimantic, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born on May 31, 1925, to Frank and Hilda (Ellison) Chamberlin, Elinor was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Robert, their young son Daniel and a sister Nancy Lamb. She is survived by two sisters Madelyn Green of Coventry and Connie Crosthwaite of Windham; three children, Sandra L. Grange of Manchester, David W. Gadoury and his wife Kathleen of Ashford, Robert M. Gadoury and his wife Brandy of Tolland; as well as five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Elinor was a member of First Congregational Church in Willimantic. She was a homemaker and her children have fond memories of large family gatherings and pool parties with cousins. In later years, Elinor and her husband enjoyed many years of retirement in St. Petersburg, Florida. After his passing, she chose to return to Connecticut to be closer to her children. Her favorite past times were the freedom of driving her own car, and shopping for great sales on Alfred Dunner outfits. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday May 10th between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday with interment in New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to The American Heart Association, 1 Union St. #301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
