Eleanore "Ellie" Gaynor, a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2024 in Storrs, CT. Born on May 1, 1940, in Windham, Connecticut, her life was a testament to the enduring bonds of family. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Richard Gaynor who passed only a month earlier. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Warren; her children, Anita Parkhurst and her husband Dan, Walter Gaynor and his partner Robin, Sandra Gaynor, and Richard Gaynor. Ellie left behind five grandchildren Eric, Rachel, Ryan, Caitlyn, and Dana, and five great-grandchildren Emma, Austin, Bradley, Skylar, and Holden.
Ellie worked at the University of Connecticut until her retirement in 1995. Her dedication to all things UConn was highlighted by her love of UConn Women’s Basketball and collection of UConn Sweatshirts.
A master of knitting and crocheting, her greatest pleasure was in creating sweaters and blankets for her friends and family. Ellie also loved playing bingo and card games, where she shared laughter and stories with friends and family.
