Edward Wandersee, MD, 87, a resident of Willington, CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Johnson) Wandersee to whom he was married for 53 years. Born in Rochester, NY on August 26, 1927, he was the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Camp) Wandersee. As a youngster, he enjoyed playing the violin. Dr. Wandersee graduated from the University of Rochester and matriculated from Syracuse University with a degree in medicine. He was a World War II veteran. Upon graduation, he opened a private practice in Baldwinsville, NY where he practiced medicine until 1967. In 1967, he and his family moved to Connecticut where he became a physician at the Student Health Service at the University of Connecticut in Storrs until his retirement. He enjoyed the field of medicine: not only helping others be healthy but listening to them and enjoying some wonderful conversations. In addition to his work, he enjoyed gardening (he was a Master Gardener), cooking (his favorite was oriental wok cooking), and carpentry (he single-handedly built the second story on his home). He and his wife enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Austria, and England in their early retirement. They also spent time enjoying bird watching from the large sunspace on the back of their home as well as visiting Black Pond together and with family. He was an active member of Storrs Congregational Church and served on many committees during his time there. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Wandersee of Wisconsin; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Wendy Wandersee of New Jersey; his son, Paul Wandersee of Danielson; his daughter, Sally Femino, of Massachusetts; his four grandchildren: John, Jr., Christopher, and Stephen Femino of Massachusetts and Carl Wandersee of New Jersey. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Willis MacDonald of NY and his brother, Alan, of Wallingford; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and condolences. For online memorial guestbook please visit
