Edward J. Stygar

Edward J. Stygar, 85, formerly of 404 Jackson St. Willimantic, died Sunday Feb. 24, 2002 at the Windham Hospital. He was born July 18, 1916 in Willimantic the son of Michael and Anna (Pienta) Stygar and was retired from Brand-Rex. Mr. Stygar was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, a life member of the San Jose Council K. of C., a member of the Windham Historical Society and was also a member of the Willimantic Elks Lodge where he was Elk of the Year in 1966. He served as the family historian, was an avid reader and enjoyed photography. His greatest joy was his flower garden on Jackson St. which was admired and enjoyed by many who passed by. He is survived by 2 sisters; Olga Delany of Bolton and Jennie Mallon of Manchester and several nieces and nephews including Kathy Choptij of Manchester who cared for him in recent years. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30am prior to the procession to his 11:00am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. His family suggests memorial donations to St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, Ct. 06226 or to St. Joseph Living Center, 14 Club Rd., Windham, Ct. 06280
