Edward Slowik Obituary
Edward S. Slowik, 92, of Somers, CT, died Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born in Willimantic, CT, the son of the late John and Mary (Stygar) Slowik.
Edward was a true gentleman and always gave a helping hand. He was kind and soft spoken with a great knowledge of how things worked, and he could repair or rebuild anything. Edward enjoyed spending time with his family and friends – cooking and sharing good food, a lot of laughs, and a rousing game of cards. He also enjoyed playing golf. Edward’s life was one that was well-lived. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
His family would like to thank all the staff at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for their wonderful care.
Edward is survived by his companion, Leslie Norman; two daughters, Kathleen Ryan and her husband John and Nancy Slowik and her partner Pamela; two brothers, Donald Slowik and Wilfred Slowik; a sister, Elenor Isenberg; three grandchildren, Amanda Bell, Randi Ryan and Ryan Slowik; two great grandchildren, Ezra Roy and Madison Slowik. He was predeceased by a son Timothy Slowik, brother John Slowik and sister Lucy Hancharyk.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, 100 Warren Circle, Mansfield, CT 06268. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic. Burial will be private.
