Edward Oliva Roy, of Columbia, CT died on December 26, 2014 at Apple Rehab in Colchester, surrounded by his family. He was born July 4, 1924 to Philip and Marie Louise Roy in Weathersfield, Vermont. Edward worked at Pratt & Whitney for 30 years, retiring in 1983 and then for 20 years at Columbia Ford. He was a past president and life member of the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department. Edward is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marlene (Joyce) Demont Roy; daughter Michele Medeiros and her husband Raymond Medeiros, Jr.; son Brian and his wife Monique; grandchildren, Annie Medeiros Pinyard and her husband Scott, Eric and Amanda Roy, and great grandchildren, Jane and Murray Pinyard. He also leaves his sisters, Louise Champney, Rita Cutler, Yvonne Hart, and Rosemarie Poulin; and brother Rene Roy as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Roland; and sister Claire Withington. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Route 195) Willimantic, CT. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. at St. Columba Church, 328 Routes 66 and 87 Columbia, CT 06237 on Wednesday, December 31, 2014.
