Edward T. Dowling of Willimantic, CT went to the Lord unexpectedly on Thursday, June 4, 2015. He was born on December 13, 1931, son of Thomas P. Dowling and Helen (Nowacki) Dowling of Worcester, MA. Edward graduated from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and maintained an MPA Degree. He was employed at UMass, Amherst, MA and later at the University of Connecticut, Institute of Public Service from 1963 until his retirement in 1989. He also served his country serving in the Army during Korean War. Edward was an avid golfer many years and considered a gentle giant, kind, generous, caring and loving. He will be missed by all that knew him and will be remembered forever. Edward was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Alexina Y. (Belanger) Dowling and his sister Patricia A. (Dowling) Wilson. He is survived by his beloved fiancAC.e and best friend of many years Rose Marie (Ternullo) Bergeron and her family that he loved as his own, Leslie M. Lang (Chris) and children Kyle and Jordan; David R. Bergeron (Beverly) and children Danielle and Elizabeth; Eric S. Bergeron (Melissa)and children Joshua and Gavin. He is also survived by two nephews David T. Wilson (Suzanne) and their daughters Emily and Abigail Wilson of Reading, MA and Mark E. Wilson of Sturbridge, MA and his daughter, Grace Wilson of Holden, MA along with several respected friends, neighbors and acquaintances. Visitation will be held for family and friends at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT from 6-8:00PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2015. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT at 10:00 am interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
