Willimantic - Edward W. Beattie, 58, of Willimantic, husband of the late Rosalie Beattie, passed away at home Thursday, September 29, 2011. He was born September 23, 1953 in Willimantic and raised in Eagleville by his parents, the late Edward and Elizabeth Beattie. Edward was an accomplished carpenter and would lend his skills to anyone in need, but his true passion was serving the Lord as a devoted Christian. Edward was a gifted musician as a guitar player and had an incredible singing voice. He loved to share these talents whenever possible and especially did so on Sundays at the Mansfield Christian Fellowship in Mansfield, CT; where he discovered his love for the Christian faith. Edward spent most of his life trying to follow the path of the Lord, but was not always successful. Regardless of his chosen path it was always known by anyone he encountered that he had a very kind heart and would do anything to help others. Edward and his beloved Rosalie felt blessed to have shared their dream home for sixteen years in the Willimantic Camp Meeting Association. He is survived by a sister, Kathleen Mathieu and husband, Robert of Kalispell, MT; a brother, Michael Beattie of Coventry; a son, Edward Peck and wife, Diane of Colchester; a daughter, Lisa Bryant and husband, Timothy of Mansfield; a stepson, Michael Dietrich Jr. of Woodstock; a stepdaughter, Deanna Harvey of Canterbury; seven grandchildren, a great grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a twin brother, Scott Beattie. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 in the South Chaplin Cemetery, Route 198, Chaplin. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are through the Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic. Please visit
