Edna H. Horan, of Willimantic, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 27, 2006. Her family was with her. The great love of her life, James B. Horan, died five years earlier. Together they raised four children, Jeffrey Horan of Marlborough, MA, soon to be married to Nancy Clegg, Kevin Horan of Mansfield, Mary C. Horan of Lebanon with partner Skip Kuzel and James W. Horan of Hampton, married to Lori. She had a passion for puzzles, a great game of Scrabble, the Red Sox, the UConn Huskies and most especially her grandchildren, Nicole, Samantha, Cody, Lyndsey and Kyleigh, all who lived nearby. Edna was born in Willimantic June 2, 1929 to Najim and Zain Eldar Haddad from Beirut, Lebanon. As the tenth child of fifteen she was always surrounded by her large and loving family. Many of her siblings have since died, George, Edmund, Mitchel, Alfred, Louis, Asper, Alex, Edward and Catherine. She loved to travel and spend time with her sisters Isabelle and her husband Louis Haddad, Rose and her husband Joseph Rasicot, Millie Colter and her brothers, William Haddad and his wife Mary Lou, Munere Haddad and his wife Karen and her sister-in-law, Pauline Haddad. They will greatly miss her as will her 40 nieces and nephews. Edna spent all of her life in Willimantic. After working at Windham Hospital for several years she became a paraprofessional at Windham Center School and spent the next thirty years lighting up the lives of the children with whom she worked. She was secretary for the Lebanese American Club and a faithful member of St. Joseph Church where she made many life-long friendships while giving of her time and energy. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Monday at 9:15 a.m. prior to the procession to her Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Windham Hospital, 112 Mansfield Ave., Willimantic, CT 06226.
