Edith Green Obituary
Edith M. Green, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was born in Hartford, CT to the late Richard B. and Doris M. Wheeler on October 1, 1939.
Edith worked for Windham Public Schools for many years in the office, then worked for Parish Hill High School and Natchaug Hospital. Her and her husband, Paul, coached their daughter’s softball teams for many years as part of the Windham Youth Organization and the Women’s Softball Association of Greater Willimantic. After retiring from coaching, they could always be seen watching their daughters and granddaughters play from their red truck in the parking lot. They rarely missed a game. Edie also enjoyed watching UConn Women’s Basketball and Mountain Men. She had a sweet tooth and loved to bake apple pies with the best homemade crust.
She is predeceased by her husband, Paul C. Green, and her siblings Thomas, Robert, David, Richard, and James Wheeler and Marie Richer. She is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly Golden and her husband Richard, Jodi and Paula Green, four grandchildren, Ashley Estell, Shelby Green, Caitlin Golden and Kolby Golden and a great-grandson, Cooper Estell. Edie is also survived by her siblings, Unabelle Tubbs and husband Louis, George Wheeler and wife Edith, and Judith Wheeler, sister-in-law, Madeline Wheeler and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Her graveside service will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10:00am at the Windham Center Cemetery, Rte. 203, Windham, CT. Donations in Edie’s name can be made to the Windham Center Fire Department, P.O. Box 265, Windham, CT 06280.
