Edith Sloan

Edith (Coppola) Sloan, 91, formerly of Mansfield, wife of the late William Leon Sloan Sr., died Wednesday Dec. 30, 2009. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island the daughter of Anthony and Rose Coppola. Edith had been a long time Mansfield resident retiring from UConn Dining Services. She had been a communicant of St. Philip The Apostle Church, Ashford. Edith is survived by her son William Jr. and his wife Gloria of Mansfield, a brother Carmine Coppola of N. Providence, RI, three sisters, Carol Silva of Cranston, RI, Viola Carpenter of Lincoln, RI and Mary Leonti of N. Providence, RI; two grandchildren, Jennifer Edwards and Patricia Sloan; and two great grandchildren, Kove Edwards and Kaden Payne. She was predeceased by a brother John Coppola. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday Jan. 4th between 9:30 and 10:30am at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic prior to her 11:00am Funeral Mass at St. Philip the Apostle Church, Rte 44, Warrenville section of Ashford.
