Edith Louise Gaylor, 77, of Mansfield, wife of Richard Gaylor, died peacefully at her home, Tuesday February 5, 2013. She was born on March 12, 1935 to the late Eugene and Martha Marrotte of Willimantic. Edith grew up in Willimantic and graduated in 1954 from Windham High School. She married her high school sweetheart on August 14, 1954 and she and Richard settled in Mansfield where they raised their four children. While in Connecticut, she was employed by Brand Rex, Electro Motive and SEMCO. Edith served as a scout leader for both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts in Mansfield Center while her children were in Scouting. As a resident of Florence, South Carolina from 1970 to 1980, she worked at Robert Hall Clothing and JC Penneys. Together, Edith and Richard provided the environment where everyone could gather and enjoy the simple pleasures of everyday life. She loved the outdoors, enjoying activities such as camping, boating, going to the beach, gardening, bird watching - especially her humming birds and sitting around a campfire with family and friends. She was an avid UCONN Women's Basketball fan and was a proud supporter of our United States Armed Forces. Edith was a kind, caring and loving wife, mother, memere, great memere, Godmother and friend. Edith cherished her family and was a special role model to all that knew her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by their four children, Deborah Ann Grenier and her husband Michael E. of Mansfield Center, CT, Linda Lee Morrow and her husband Wm. Michael, of Valrico, Florida, Ken Gaylor, and his wife Carol Elliott Gaylor, of Andover, CT and Carl Gaylor of Mansfield Center, CT. She is also survived by her two grandchildren that she cherished and adored. Christopher Morrow and his wife Tara Fort Benning, GA, Miranda Elizabeth Morrow Warshaw and her husband Derick of Sherman, TX, two great grandchildren that gave her special happiness, Emmalyn Grace and Ian Richard Morrow and expecting another, Stella Elizabeth Warshaw, who is due to arrive in May. She is also survived by her three brothers, Gordon, Edmond and Norman Marrotte and a sister Marty LaVoy, all of the Windham area, many nieces and nephews all of which were special to her in their own way. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 10 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 46 Valley St. Willimantic with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Center Cemetery.
