Ebba Hansen, 84, of Storrs, passed away on September 28th 2002 at the Windham Hospital with her three children at her bedside. Ebba was the widow of Henry Hansen, former Director of the Agricultural Extension Service. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Domski of Omaha, NE, and sons, Robert Hansen of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Richard Hansen of Danville, CA. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, a sister, Gladys Ellefsen of Bristol and sister-in-law, Laura Jensen of East Hampton. Born in New Haven on September 23, 1918, she spent her early life in Northford, CT. Ebba graduated from UConn in 1940 with a degree in Home Economics Education and taught for 2 years at The Gilbert School in Winsted. The Hansen's moved to Storrs in 1947 where they raised their family and Ebba volunteered in many community and University organizations. She was actively involved with the Storrs Congregational Church, led two 4-H clubs and held several alumni positions with Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Ebba was an avid gardener, bridge player, quilter, traveler and enjoyed UConn athletics and Fine Arts Programs. Burial will be private in Storrs Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 5th at 1:00 p.m. at the Storrs Congregational Church.
