Earle Bates Miles, 91, of Windham, died Friday Dec. 31, 2010 in Windham. He was born on March 23, 1919 in East Granville, VT., son of the late Charles and Lureta (Bates) Miles. He is survived by son Raymond and his wife Joanne of N. Windham, Robert and his wife Lorri of Lebanon, Roger and his wife Michele of Windham and Ronald and his fiancAC.e Suzanne of N. Windham. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Robert Jr., Ryan, Ronald Jr., Zachary and Roger Jr.; three great grandchildren, sister Betty Dubay of Chicopee, MA and brother Bruce of Florida. Earle was predeceased by a brother, seven sisters, his wife Eleanor (Baldwin) Miles and son Richard. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 1940 to June 1945 and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. Earle had been a Scout Master for Troop 34 Boy Scouts of Windham, a life member and past president of North Windham Fire Dept. and Chief of Tri County Fire Police. He was a member of Eastern Star Lodge #44 AF&AM, Trinity Chapter #9, Montgomery Council #2 RN&SM, St. John's Commandery #11, Amaranth Rainbow Court #20 Order of Amaranth, Past Grand Royal Patron Grand Court of CT., Radiant Chapter #11 OES and Laurel Forest #130 Tall Cedars of Lebanon. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday Jan. 4th, between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic.
