Earl Haywood Dunton Jr, of Willimantic, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013. He was born on June 24, 1930 in Worcester, Massachusetts, son of Earl and Madalene (Traver) Dunton. He leaves behind his loving wife Maria (Holowczak) and 5 children, Earl Bigelow of Bath, ME, Sherry Bailey of Hampton, CT, Ronald Dunton of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Larysa Dunton and Stacy Dunton, both of Willimantic, CT. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Kyle, Chelsey, and Brianna as well as a great grandchild, Cody. Earl also leaves behind 7 sisters and is predeceased by a brother and a sister. Earl served in the Korean War as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was Past State Commander in 1987-88. Earl worked as an aircraft engineer for Pratt & Whitney for almost 30 years. He resided in Willimantic for over 50 years and was an active member of his community. He could always be found at Third Thursday, Main Street Cafe or with his Quiet Corner Fiddlers Group doing what he loved. He was a very loving man and will be greatly missed. GO RED SOX! His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday April 12, 2013 between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic.
