Douglas A. Angell, 62, of Columbia, died Friday, June 10, 2011 at Windham Hospital in Willimantic. He was born May 27, 1949 in Willimantic, the son of Vivian J. Angell of Columbia and the late Ernest Leonard Angell. Doug graduated from Windham High School and Thames Valley College. He was previously employed by Chowanec Well Drilling, Windham Sand and Stone and Butch Przekopski Jr. He was a long time member of the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department. Doug was an avid motor sports enthusiast and especially loved sprint car racing. He loved riding his motorcycles with his friends and sponsoring his nephews in motocross under the name "UD (Uncle Doug) Racing". In addition to his mother, and many, many friends, he leaves his sister Diane and her husband Denis Brais of Brooklyn, CT and beloved nephews Ryan Brais and his fiancAC.e Stacy Boturla of Brooklyn and Aaron Brais of Manchester. There are no calling hours and services and burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 26, Columbia, CT 06237.
