Dorothy Tubridy

Dorothy Flynn Tubridy, wife of the late Joseph F. Tubridy, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 18, 2006. Born in Norwich, Connecticut on September 4, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Cynthia and Peter Flynn. Dorothy graduated from Norwich Free Academy and received her R.N. degree from St. Francis School of Nursing. In 1937, she moved to Willimantic and became the first physical therapist/nurse at Windham Hospital. She was married to Joseph Tubridy in 1939 and they celebrated their sixtieth anniversary in 1999. Dorothy was involved in numerous volunteer activities and clubs, but she treasured most working side-by-side with her husband, Joe, building the family retail womens wear business in Willimantic. She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Blosat of Atlanta, Georgia; son Kevin Tubridy and his wife, Betsy of Pomfret, CT; daughter Karen Tubridy, of New York City, NY, a sister, Evelyn Vogel of Florida; also six grandchildren, Mark and Tracy Solan, and Sean, Erin, Michael and Connor Tubridy. She also will be remembered fondly by her extended family, devoted friends, loyal co-workers, long-time golf partners and her beloved bridge partners. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Route 195, Willimantic, CT on Thursday, May 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Road, Windham, CT.
