Dorothy Mae (Harrington) Haggerty, 84, of Willimantic, died Monday Jan. 5, 2004 at the Windham Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Dermod F. Haggerty. She was born March 23, 1919 in Willimantic the daughter of Daniel and Ruth (Dady) Harrington. She was a 1937 graduate of Windham High School. She had been employed by the Electro-Motive Manufacturing Co. for many years before working in the jewelry department at Barker's Department Store. Mrs. Haggerty was a Girl Scout leader in the community in the 1950's. She leaves behind a son Michael Haggerty of Willimantic, 3 daughters; Maureen Vertefeuille and her husband Edward of Windham Center, Jerilyn Roberts and her husband Charles of Palm Bay, FL, and Patricia Bernat of Canterbury and her husband James of Woodstock, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her brother Patrick Harrington and his wife Janet of Windham and Boca Raton, FL. and her sister Ruth Barnum of Willimantic. She was predeceased by her brother Daniel Harrington. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be private in the Old Willimantic Cemetery.
