Dorothy E. "Dottie" Gagnon, a long-time resident of Ashford, CT, passed away peacefully at her home on April 13, 2015. She is pre-deceased by her Husband Lionel Gagnon, and her brother Alexander A. Krajewski. She is the daughter of the late Pauline Roman & Alexander F. Krajewski of Terryville, CT. She leaves her daughter Lisa A. Gagnon Zackowski and her Son-In-Law Peter P. Zackowski IV as well as many loving friends. Dottie attended Hartford Community College and graduated top of her class with a degree in Business Administration. She simultaneously owned and operated a Secretarial Business, a tax preparation business, a motorhome rental business and a real estate business with her late husband in Bristol, CT, where she resided most of her adult life. She was Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and the Transportation Commission in Bristol, and was a founding member and secretary for Quiet Corner Shh, a support group for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or are affected by someone who is either deaf or hard of hearing. In 2010, she suffered a stroke which left her completely paralyzed on her left side. The diagnosis was grim, but through hard work and perseverance, she learned to walk again, and while she never regained full use of her left hand, she never stopped trying, and continued to make progress to the day she died. Dottie had a brilliant mind and a vast capacity for giving. She dedicated herself, not only to supporting other stroke victims, but to using her real estate knowledge to help people defend themselves against illegal foreclosures. She will be missed by many. But as energy cannot be created or destroyed, then hers is out there, adding to the light side of the universe. Per Dottie's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at a later, as yet undetermined, date. Please email your contact information to
