Dorothy Belli Obituary
Dorothy Evans Belli, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt passed peacefully on October 31, 2024, at home. She passed away exactly four years after the passing of Al.
Born April 28, 1931, Dottie grew up in Columbia where she lived most of her life. She and Al built their home and lived there most of their 69 years of marriage.
She leaves a daughter, Diane and husband Mike Witek; a son Doug and wife Brenda; grandson Daniel and wife Angelica; two wonderful great grandsons Gio and Nico; granddaughter Kaylee and partner Dan, sister Cookie Michaud and great nephew Josh Michaud.
Dottie’s working career spanned that of a legal secretary, insurance secretary and ended as an administrative assistance in the CAP Program at UCONN. Her most important “job” was that of a loving wife and mother to her entire family.
Dottie and Al enjoyed traveling to visit Diane in Australia, Doug in California, and Lee in Las Vegas. They especially enjoyed being snowbirds in Florida for fifteen years where they made many friends.
A special thank you to her wonderful neighbors, Peter and Ellen. They were always available for a visit and to lend a helping hand.
Grandson Daniel wrote the following tribute that “says it all”, Dear Grandma, what a blessing it has been to have you in all our lives. Your kind heart, sweet and loving demeanor is infectious to anyone who is with you. You have been the cornerstone of our family and we all love you dearly. Although it is inevitable that our time in the physical is limited, your spirit will remain with us for eternity. We will cherish all for the wonderful moments you have created with us. We will celebrate you always and forever.
Dottie spent the last month of her life in hospice care. Thank you to nurse Hayley and aides Aziia and Arieanna for taking such wonderful care of Dottie.
A Graveside Service will take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 12:00pm at the Columbia Burying Ground Center Cemetery, RT 87, Columbia, CT.
