Dorothy Mae Desrosiers (Dottie Mae), age 90, of Windham, CT, died peacefully on February 2, 2016 with her grandson, Jason Michael, and granddaughter, Jenny, by her side. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Dorothy was born on September 8, 1925 in Mansfield, CT to Albert and Gertrude (Lewis) Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Desrosiers, daughter Linda Szegda, brothers Earl, Walter and Lewis Butler and sisters Florence Fredette and Grace Carlson. Dorothy enjoyed word search books, playing slots at the casino, crocheting blankets for a local nursing home and above all spending time with her family. She believed her greatest gift was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she was ours. Nobody will ever replace her amazing sense of humor and loving spirit in our hearts. Dorothy is survived by her sister Gertrude Landon, her daughter Janet Desrosiers, son Richard Desrosiers, son in law Joseph Szegda, grandchildren; David Szegda and Tracy Brooks, Dawn and Michael Sylvester, Jennifer (Jenny) and Julie Szegda, Kevin and Shari Desrosiers; Jason Michael and Crystal Desrosiers, great grandchildren; Cole, Kelly, Rayn, Sky, Noah, Delaney, Dayton, Jakob, Madison, Macenzie and her granddogs; Abi, Piper and Gillian. Her family would especially like to thank Dr. Michael Kilgannon for twenty plus years of outstanding medical care, support, patience and kindness - we are forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dorothy's name to Hospice of Eastern Connecticut at 34 Ledgebrook Drive, Mansfield Center, CT 06250. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her family will receive family and friends one hour prior.
