Dorothy E. Chesters of Coventry passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 14, 2015 at Mansfield Nursing and Rehab. She was born January 16, 1922 in New London to Evelyn and Charles Wilcox. Dorothy was raised in the New London area and later settled in Coventry. She loved watching the Lady Huskies Basketball team and was a Yankees Fan. Dorothy was a free spirit who loved a good party now and then, and was always there with a big infectious smile. But Dottie was also a bird watcher and loved her flower gardens. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church in Coventry and sang in its choir. Dottie was also a member of the Windham and Chaplin Senior Centers. Dorothy was preceded in death by all five of her siblings Mary, Lois, Gladys, Robert and Francis as well as a son in law Amos Maynard. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Maynard of Willimantic, Dorothy and her husband Bill of Chaplin; sons Leonard Watrous and his wife Doris of Vernon, Herb Chesters and his wife Gail of Chaplin; 11 grandchildren as well as many great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Shooks as well as Sara, Paul and Lyn, her nurses, for their fine care. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Chaplin Congregational Church 43 Chaplin St, Chaplin, CT 06235. Friends and family who wish to share a memory of Dottie "as she was affectionately called" may do so then. A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, April 20, 2015 in Gardiner Cemetery Ocean Ave. New London, CT (Opposite Mansfield Rd.)
