Dorothy (Hawkins) Bailey, 92, of Mansfield, devoted mother and adored grandmother, died Wednesday Dec. 21, 2005 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the widow of G. Lewis Bailey Sr. Dorothy was born Oct. 24, 1913 in Mansfield the daughter of the late Harold and Minnie (Wildes) Hawkins. She had been employed as a secretary in the English Department at UConn for many years and was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ Congregational in Mansfield Center. She is survived by 2 sons, George Bailey Jr. and his wife Ann of Mansfield and Rodney Bailey and his wife Margaret Peet of Rochester, N.Y., 4 brothers, Winthrop Hawkins and his wife Ethel, Winston Hawkins and his wife Norma, Lee Hawkins and his wife Louise and Albert Hawkins and his wife Betty all of Mansfield; a sister Virginia Bolduc of Willimantic, grandchildren Roger and Debbie Bailey and their daughter Rilla May; Jennifer and Richard Churchill and their children Kelly and Kyle; Janna and Matthew Traber and their children Juliana and Dominic; Kim and Joseph Guelli and their children Joseph Jr., Michael, Nicholas and Samuel; Victoria and Anthony Brock and their children Anthony, Elliott, Ethan and Olivia; Christina and Benjamin Chronister and their children Michaela, Andrew and Rachel; and James and Jill Bailey; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Harold and Willis Hawkins and a sister Amy Inman. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00am at the First Church of Christ Congregational, Rte. 195, Mansfield Center, with Rev. Lindsay Fulmer officiating. Interment will follow in Mansfield Center Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mansfield Volunteer Fire Dept., 999 Storrs Rd., Storrs, CT. 06268 or to VNA East, 34 Ledgebrook Dr., Mansfield Center, CT. 06250.
