?Doris (Trahan) Darling, 88, of Willimantic, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. She made her most important journey while her favorite music played and she joined her beloved husband, Clifford E. Darling who predeceased her in 1988. Mem?, as she was affectionately known, was born in Willimantic, August 5, 1919, to Homer and Eva (Brousseau) Trahan. She was a resident of Willimantic until she moved to Coventry to live with her daughter and son-in-law in 1995. Doris was a communicant of St. Mary?s Church in Willimantic and worked for St. Mary?s Rectory for many years after retiring from the American Thread Company. She was dedicated to her family and friends and was a member of the Red Hat Huskies in Mansfield along with her two daughters. Doris? favorite pastime was traveling and she did it with great enthusiasm. Her most recent travels included Florida, Colorado, and New Mexico where she took a ride in a hot air balloon. Over the years she traveled to Ireland, Canada, and visited just about every state in the U.S. Doris collected memorabilia from all of her trips and enjoyed reliving her travel experiences with her family and friends. She is survived by her four children, Carl R. Trahan and his wife Marie of Ormond By the Sea, Florida, Jo Ann M. Easton and her husband Mark of Willimantic, Cheryl A. Lowe and her husband Leroy of Coventry, and William H. Darling and his wife Fern of Ashford. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Julie Scaringella and her husband Mike of Eustis, Florida, Robert Trahan and his wife Kim of East Hampton, Connecticut, and Matthew and Christina Easton of Willimantic, and several great-grandchildren (Jonathan, Madison, Jacob, Zachary, and John). Doris is also survived by her beloved sisters Blanche Duchesneau and Anita Baronosky of Willimantic and several nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved very much. She will also be greatly missed by many friends with whom she communicated often. Family and friends are asked to join her children in a celebration of her life on Monday, April 14th between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary?s Church, Valley St., Willimantic on Tuesday at 12:00pm with assembly at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph?s Cemetery in Windham.
