Doris Schlehofer Obituary
Doris B. Schlehofer passed away peacefully, June 18, 2022, at the Cumberland Hospital hospice unit in Somerset, Kentucky. Doris was a long-time resident of Connecticut and raised her entire family in the Mansfield, Ashford area. She had resided with her daughter for the last 20 years.
Doris was born April 24, 1930, in Bronx, New York to John W. Berke and Marian (Williams) Berke.
Doris will always be remembered as a very strong woman who loved her family above all else and sacrificed for them at every turn. She was the rock the whole family turned to in the turbulence of life. Doris was predeceased by her husband and only love in life, Joseph Schlehofer of Mansfield. Both Doris and Joe were blessed with 49 years together. Doris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Judith M. and Elwyn M. Savage of Nancy, Kentucky as well as her son and daughter- in-law Joseph B. and Mary A Schlehofer of Waterford, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 12 noon at Saint Philips Cemetery, RT 44, Ashford. A gathering will be offered by the family at Midway Pizza, Route 44 after the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Saint Philips Apostle Catholic Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Road, Ashford, CT 06278.
