Doris (Gardiner) Beebe, of Storrs, passed away on Wednesday July 6, 2005 at the Windham Community Memorial Hospital. Doris was born on August 8, 1914 in Mansfield, the daughter of Robert W. Gardiner and Minnie (Warren) Gardiner. She is survived by her husband Milton C. Beebe of Storrs. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on August 18, 2004. She leaves four children, Natalie B. Jurkovics of Storrs, Carol B. Burham of Parrish, FL and Holland, MA, Ronald C. Beebe of Storrs and Wesley M. Beebe of Ashford, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Louise G. Marek and a brother, Robert B. Gardiner. Doris was a dedicated, ambitious member of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, holding the office of Treasurer for 32 years, past president of the Ladies Aid Society, a member of the Echo Grange #180, a 4-H Club leader for many years, a faithful member and past president of the Mansfield Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary and an active volunteer at American Red Cross bloodmobiles during World War II. She will always be remembered for her Strawberry Suppers, making hundreds of biscuits, baked beans and numerous pies for fundraisers at the church, fire department and Grange. Doris enjoyed cooking, baking, rug hooking and UConn basketball and Boston Red Sox baseball. Milton and Doris started the Milton C. Beebe Construction Company in 1947 and continued to be active as treasurer until her retirement. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved so much by all. Doris was very kind, generous and loyal to all her friends. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, Rte. 195 at Spring Hill Rd.
