Dorcas B. Friedrich

Friedrich, Dorcas (Blish), age 87, died peacefully December 10, 2016 with her daughter and caregiver by her side. She was the daughter of Lester H. Blish, Sr. and Rachel F. (Grant) Blish, born September 16, 1929 in Willimantic, CT. She was a 1947 Windham High School graduate. Dorcas assumed management of the Blish Insurance Agency in 1952 when her father became disabled. After a successful 10 ? years the agency was sold to the Jordan Agency. Subsequent to the sale, she became an agent for the Jordan and Blish Agency for several years and in 1967 she started a 23 year career with the Travelers Insurance Company in Personal Lines for the first 10 years and Commercial Lines for 13 years, retiring in 1990. She leaves her beloved daughter Katherine F. Stearns and son-in law James W. Stearns, her three grandchildren, Leigh, Alyssa and Robert Stearns, a sister, Sarah (Blish) Palmer and 9 nieces and nephews, and her loving caregiver, Gwendolyn Ashley. She was predeceased by her brother Lester H. Blish, Jr. and her ex-husband and friend, Robert M. Friedrich. Our heartfelt thanks to the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of CT, Inc., Hospice and Palliative Care, of Vernon, CT., most especially to her nurse Sharon Leist and all the nurses who visited and Lisa Sweeney. We thank Vita McClarity for her weekly visits and help .Their exceptional care and concern will always be appreciated and remembered. We want to thank Carl Rowe, Friends for Friends Caregiving Agency in East Hartford and his whole staff. We are most grateful for her caregiver, Gwendolyn Ashley, who took the best care of Dorcas for the last 8 years, with love, patience and humor. She is our angel. Mansfield Center, CT 06250 A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of Christ, 549 Storrs Rd. (Route 195), Mansfield Center, Ct. 06250. A private burial will be at a later date.
