Donna Rae (Elliott) Freeman, 63 of Broad Brook, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 5th, 2023 with her husband at her side.
Donna was born October 23rd, 1959 to the late Raymond Amos Elliott and Betty Jean (Pettaway) Elliott of Mansfield. Growing up, she was well known and liked around E.O. Smith where she was a Varsity Cheerleader. In 1984 she met Michael Freeman, who she would marry and have two wonderful sons with.
Donna dedicated her life to helping those around her. She would do anything she could for anyone, primarily children and dogs. For several years, Donna worked as a dog groomer, eventually leaving the business to start one of her own. Donna was the proud owner of Loving Hearts, LLC in home daycare. This is where she was the happiest, taking care of and teaching children. Donna opened this business in 2010 and loved all the children who attended dearly.
Donna is survived by her husband of 32 years, Michael Freeman, her sons, Shawn Freeman and his wife Rachel of Stafford Springs, Josh Freeman and Jacqueline of New Britain; her sister, Sandra Viel and her husband Bob of Fairfax, VT; three grandchildren, Jazmyn, Leo and Rylie and several nieces and nephews. Donna will always be grateful for the children and families that she was surrounded with, especially James, Melinda and Alivia Onofrio.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Roaring Brook Campground Rec Hall in Stafford Springs on Saturday, February 18th, 2023 from 12PM until 6PM. A private ceremony will be held at a later date for burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center where they made her feel comfortable and supported her and her family during her battle.
