Donat Roy, 84, of North Windham, formerly of Coventry, husband of Irene (Berube) Roy, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Windham Hospital. He was born June 23, 1928 in Green River, New Brunswick, and moved to the United States in 1959. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Coventry and a life member and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Hartford Hospital for 27 years. He started out as a window washer and throughout the years was promoted to foreman of the paint shop. He retired at the age of 59 and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by a son and three daughters, Ronald Roy, Ginette Gagnon, Pauline Eurto and Nancy Blay as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by three children, Denise Schaffer, Linda Proto and Robert Roy, a granddaughter and a great grandson. He will be greatly missed. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, August 31st from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 1st at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 1600 Main St., Coventry with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Coventry.
