Donald E. White, age 82, of North Windham, CT, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 13, 2015. Born in West Warwick, Rhode Island, the son of the late Anita & Eugene White, he made his home in the Windham area for the past 55 years. Mr. White served as a Corporal in the RI National Guard's 705th Battalion during the Korean War. He was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Willimantic, past president of the Windham Franco American Civic and Social Club, and a member of the Willimantic Elks Lodge 1311. During his career he served as a Board of Selectman for the town of Windham, was the Windham Town Highway Superintendent, and Director of the Windham Energy Recovery Facility. Mr. White was an avid reader and movie lover, but by far the two most important things in his life were his faith and his family. He is predeceased by his wife Marjorie White, their son John White, and his sister Rita Joyal. He is survived by his brother Robert White of Attleboro, MA and his sister Lorraine Marsocci of West Warwick, RI. He is also survived by his daughter Dawn Niles and her husband Lloyd Niles of North Windham, daughter Susan Mlyniec and her husband Michael Mlyniec of Coventry, RI, his daughter Cathy Whitehead of Danielson, his son Thomas White Sr and his wife AnnMarie White of Windham, his son Gary White and his wife Nancy White of Lebanon, and his daughter Marcia Panciera and her husband Dan Panciera of Willington. Additionally he leaves behind 31 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren including: Josh, Jess, Zander, Izsak, Mackenzie, Karen, Brian, Lainey, Claudia, Laura, Brian, Matt, Jen, Drew, Zack, Jake, Shannen, Jesse, Sam, Tom Jr, Andy, Sarah, Kylie, Mary, Stephen, Katie, Shawn, Michelle, Talon, Aubri, Katelyn, Jason, Chelsee, Tea, Amaryn, Vianney, Adam, Kristi, Ben, Joanna, Audra, and Anna. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St Mary's Church, 46 Valley Street, Willimantic, CT on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 9:30am. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in North Windham.
