Donald Albert Warren Sr

Donald Albert Warren Sr., 92, of Storrs, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday August 25, 2013. He was born on April 21, 1921 in Willimantic the son of the late Charles Elmer and Molly (Nichols) Warren. Donald was the brother of the late Walter C. Warren and the late Mable B. Parker. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma (Lacount) Warren, son Donald Albert Warren Jr. of Ashford, two daughters and their spouses, Joanne and Robert Bowen of Storrs and Joyce and Arthur St. Lawrence of Chaplin; two grandsons, Scott and Joshua St. Lawrence and a special niece, Barbara Warren of Storrs. Donald was a World War II veteran and a recipient of The Bronze Star Medal. Upon completing his military service, he first worked for Wright's Tractor Service on Rte. 195 in Mansfield and later worked for the Army Corps of Engineers at Mansfield Hollow Dam until retiring at the age of 75. Donald was a lifetime member of the Fin, Fur and Feather Club and enjoyed playing Setback, barbequing chicken, and loved fishing and gardening. The family would like to thank all the hospice staff and his in home caregivers, Izzy, Marilyn, Anita, Awilda, Vanessa and Jeanette. Donald will be sadly missed. His family will received relatives and friends on Thursday Aug. 29th between 10:00 and 11:00am prior to an 11:00am Funeral Service at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Interment will follow in Pink Cemetery, Mansfield.
