Donald E. Merchant Jr

Donald E. Merchant Jr., 54, of Windham, CT; a loving and devoted father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and grandfather left this earth by a tragic, unfortunate accident on Monday, March 23, 2015. Donald was born on August 11, 1960 in Willimantic, CT to Donald E. Merchant Sr. & Carol A. (Mellady) Merchant. He attended St. Mary-St. Joseph School & Windham High School in Willimantic, CT. Don is survived by his children; Stephanie, David, Daniel, Chelsea, Shelby, Joseph and also Alyssa, whom he raised like one of his own; his grandchildren; his parents, Donald & Carol; his siblings: Dori & her partner Michael; James, Wendy & her fiancAC. Troy. Including several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many loyal friends. He was predeceased by infant grandchildren. Don was an avid outdoorsman and farmer, working his entire adult life in farming. He died doing what he loved. He dedicated his life to his children, wildlife and farming. He passed his love of nature including fishing, hunting and mastery archery skills onto his children, who will continue these activities in his honor. He was an active member of National Wild Turkey Federation, as well as North American Hunting club. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 28,2015 at St. Joseph's Church, Willimantic, CT.
