Donald Henry Burr, of Willimantic, passed away on Monday Feb. 13, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer. Donald, 79, was born in Stafford Springs, CT on July 25, 1932, and was a resident of Willimantic for 50 years. Following graduation from Windham High School, Donald began a long career with the State of Connecticut, spending 7 years at the University of Connecticut, and another 31 years with the Department of Motor Vehicles, eventually retiring as Assistant Director of Administrative Services in Wethersfield, CT. Donald volunteered for many years as treasurer and coach for the Willimantic Little League, and was a longtime member of the Elks Club and First Congregational Church in Willimantic. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly (Odiorne) Burr, his daughter, Donna McNally of Willimantic, his son, Rex Burr, who resides with his family in Chicago, IL, and his sister, Sandra Congdon, of Worcester, MA. In addition, he leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday Feb. 16th between 10:00 and 11:00am with a service beginning at 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Burial service will follow at Windham Center Cemetery, Rte. 203 Windham, CT.
