We come together today to honor and remember the life of Dona Jean (Bartlett) Risley, known for her loving heart and courageous spirit. Dona was born on December 28th, 1968, in Rockville, Connecticut, and sadly passed away on December 19th, 2023, in Windham, Connecticut, after a valiant battle with brain cancer.
Dona's grew up in Rockville, CT. She was the cherished daughter of the late James N. Bartlett and Carol Jones. Her siblings, Kelly Bartlett, James Bartlett Jr., and Kris Bartlett, grew up alongside her, sharing in the joys and challenges of life. Dona was a proud graduate of Rockville High School and furthered her education at Manchester Community College, where she embraced learning with enthusiasm and determination.
Professionally, Dona dedicated 20 years of her life as a Healthcare Aide with the State of Connecticut, a role that showcased her innate kindness and desire to help others. Her commitment to care and compassion made a significant impact on the lives of many, leaving a legacy of service that will be remembered by colleagues and those she assisted.
Dona's personal life was enriched by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Christopher J. Risley and the loving stepmother to Clint Risley. Dona's family circle extended to her son, Joshua Bartlett, her daughter-in-law, Cathy Bartlett, and her three grandsons, James Kasprzyk, Joshua Bartlett Jr., and Joseph Bartlett, who brought immense joy and laughter into her life. The bond she shared with her nephew, Thomas Machie and his wife, Angie Machie, was equally special, highlighting the deep connections she fostered within her family.
Beyond her professional and family life, Dona held a passion for the simple pleasures in life. She enjoyed movies and cherished the time spent hanging out with her three grandsons. These moments, filled with love and laughter, were the times when Dona's kind and courageous nature shone brightest, creating memories that her family will hold dear for years to come.
Dona's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. Her courage in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew her. She faced her illness with the same strength and grace that characterized her entire life, never losing her warmth or her ability to care for those around her.
